Collecting, cleaning, displaying, researching, and appreciating TRIVETS and related go-withs!
The November Renningers Extravaganza in Mt. Dora, Florida was exceptional, as always! Over 800 dealers set up booths along the 117 acres of rolling pastureland Friday – Sunday, November 19 – 21, 2010. I think their pre-holiday Extravaganza is always the best of the three they do each year; the other two shows are coming in January and February.
My goal this year was to find an antique washboard, and I wasn’t disappointed! My favorite dealer is Curt Howard Antiques, found under a big tree near the bottom of the Gate 5 main trail at Booth space 1220. This seller is at every Extravaganza- always at this same location- and undeniably has the best trivets, irons and laundry collectibles of anyone there.
What’s special about Curt is that everything he offers is of top quality, in working condition and display ready. All metalwork is polished and waxed and wooden antiques are carefully refinished to their original glory. Because of all this work his prices are a bit higher- but still very reasonable for the quality of the antiques. That’s Curt below, seated at his “office” table, writing up yet another sale.
And last but not least, here is the main display table of the irons, fluters, trivets, and laundry stoves offered by Curt Howard Antiques. Like what you’re seeing? Don’t miss the next Extravaganzas coming to Mt. Dora, Florida on Jan. 14-16 and Feb. 18-20, 2011!
