The Muster geschutzt sadiron stand and Feldmeyer patent fuel iron

This beautifully designed cast iron German sadiron stand/trivet features a benevolent sun. It’s in near mint condition with its original nickel plating. A trivet of this type would have supported a small fuel iron or sadiron.

Details: Nickel plated cast iron, 9 3/4 x 3″ with three 3/4″ feet and a 3/4″ top rail to keep an iron in place. Weight is 14 ounces. Inscribed on reverse: Muster geschutzt, which is German for “pattern protected”. Three similar examples appear in Trivets & Stands (Kelly & Ellwood, 1990) on p.186, rated as occasionally found. Circa 1880s-early 1900s.

From the same era is this German Feldmeyer patent fuel iron with a similarly designed trivet. It’s the Model 1903 Brilliant with the original case and accessories. Both the iron and trivet are of nickel-plated cast iron. The dimensions of the carrying case are 10.5 x 7.25 x 3″. The inside of the case, lined in green felt, includes the glass fuel bottle and the original brochure, as shared below.
