Collecting, cleaning, displaying, researching, and appreciating TRIVETS and related go-withs!
Welcome to Trivetology! I’ve been collecting and researching trivets and other laundry day memorabilia since the 1980s.
In 2004 I entered the eBay “Crazy For Collecting” Contest with this photo and a 250 word essay. Five collectors were selected and I was one of them! My husband Ed and I enjoyed an all expenses paid trip for two to that summer’s eBay Convention in New Orleans. I shipped ahead 70 of my best trivets and the Martha Stewart Living TV show interviewed each of us as we set up our display cases in the Morial Convention Center. I also had the opportunity to have breakfast with collecting guru Harry Rinker. Plus we got to attend the convention and meet other eBayers. That week in New Orleans was truly an unforgettable experience!
I was fortunate to partner with Collector Books who published my two books: “The A-Z Guide To Collecting Trivets (2004) and “The Expanded A-Z Guide To Collecting Trivets” (2010).
After raising two children and juggling a career as a registered nurse, I joined my husband Ed in retirement in 2015. We’re both enjoying the luxury of this time to become immersed in our hobbies, travel, and reflect on our lives so far. Life is good!
This is a curated blog ~ a shared archive of items from my personal collection. I hope you’ll find the images and information both interesting and useful. Although many of these items have appeared in my books, I’ve added additional information, photos and insights gained since the time of publication. You’ll also find internet links to enhance your learning experience.
FYI ~ I closed my Ruby Lane store Trivets & Treasures in late June 2017. The remaining copies of my second book are listed on eBay under my seller name “tornado-lynn”. You might also find trivets listed there from time to time. Items for Sale by tornado-lynn.
